Fantasy Golf: Charles Schwab Challenge Preview

I had one of those super self-aggrandizing golf stories rolling for this week's introduction but I was about three paragraphs in when I realized that it warrants it's own post and pithy title instead of getting buried in some overdue preview of a post-major tournament that no one is going to read. So this was the introduction. Hope you enjoyed it.

GLUTEN FREE GOLF ANALYSIS 

My reluctance about picking Jon Rahm last week led to that rare last minute switch that actually worked as my faith in the major runner-up king Louis Oosthuizen was rewarded. Not that Rahm was a bad pick at T8 but I prefer T2 with Rahm still in my back pocket.  

I face a similar quandary this week. Jordan Spieth is playing well and, when that's the case and you have him available (which I do), he should almost be a lock for the British Open where he has a win, a T4 and a T9 in his last five tries. Something about his incessant whining about every bad bounce makes him a good fit for links golf. It's like he draws strength from the perceived persecution by the uneven terrain and links golf gives him an endless supply of that. With that being said, Spieth's track record at Colonial is even better and the competition is weaker so I'm using him here. For now. 

The rest of the picks are pretty unsurprising and relatively uninspiring with the exception of Will Zalatoris who has never played this event before but shows all of the signs of being a guy who will contend at an event he's never played before (see Colin Morikawa - 2020). I should probably stick with FGR favorite Abraham Ancer at that price but he's been carrying the burden of my expectations all season and I'm sure would welcome the break.
