Fantasy Golf: The Charles Schwab Challenge Preview

This is going to be a thin preview because everyone kind of ignores me the week after a major anyway and no that's not the cause of today's resting bitch face. I don't want to get into it. Really it's nothing. OK I'm still fucking annoyed by that steaming pile of shit dialogue and insufferable sermonizing in the final episode of Game of Thrones. Good God they would have been better served bringing back the writers from Melrose Place or Falcon Crest to handle the ending. If it was the goal of the final season to reduce your give a shit factor about the characters to almost zero, then mission fucking accomplished.

I'll leave it there so I don't further ruin the series for those who have yet to watch seven of the best seasons in television history followed by a muffled fart and are only here because they want fantasy golf advice from the guy who picked the winner last week. Yeah that's right I picked a winner dammit. Sure it was kind of an obvious pick and I tried to blow-it as evidenced by my pre-tournament tweeting from which you could tell I was entertaining something foolish by even my standards like going with Louis Oosthuizen or Ian Poulter. But despite this . . .

And then later that night this . . .
. . . I somehow managed to overthink it so much that I came full circle to underthinking it and landed on Koepka. Maybe this is the break I needed to tear-up the rest of the season or maybe I'll just slide back into my middling existence like half the population of Westeros who voluntarily chose to leave the GOT version of Florida and return to the fictional version of Siberia. Enjoy Winterfell you miserable fucks. (OK, I'll let it go).

GOLFBABES TWEET OF THE WEEK

THIS WEEK'S ANALYSIS

You know I should pick Brandt Snedeker because everyone is picking guys named Bran with over-hyped resumes for really important shit this week. (OK, I'll really let it go).

We've actually got a pretty solid field for a post-major tournament with seven of the top thirteen players in the world along with some other noteworthy dudes like Tony Finau and Ian Poulter. Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth have both had dominant stretches here while Justin Rose is the defending champ but all three of them have shown a propensity to step on a rake when playing courses they like lately (see Justin Rose - Masters . . . shit). I think Rahm is the safest play among the favorites but I already wasted him in Mexico so I'm going with the second safest play in Paul Casey.

As for the rest of the picks, this tournament has more top ten regulars than Cheers. Kevin Na, Zach Johnson, Jason Dufner, Danny Lee, Ryan Palmer and Brian Harman all have multiple top tens and ZJ is a two-time winner. Based on recent performance and lack thereof, I'm going with Na, Dufner and Lee out of that group. Also, this is where Joaquin Niemann kicked-off his new sensation run in 2018 before fading-back into partial oblivion with Ryo Ishikawa and Smylie Kaufman. He's shown some signs of bouncing back lately so let's roll the dice and see if he has two seasons of promise in him.

Now THAT was drama!!!
(I really miss Sydney).
One and Done Pick: Paul Casey

Other Guy I'd Pick: Jon Rahm

Sleeper Pick: Joaquin Niemann

Here is everyone else I deemed worth noting in my newfound infinite wisdom. One of the veterans is going to show-up this week - either Jimmy Walker, Bill Haas or Charley Hoffman. I just don't trust any of them as far as I could throw them. Especially not Hoffman. Big boy.
