Fantasy Golf: The Rocket Mortgage Classic Preview

Last week's lightly researched and hastily prepared preview resulted in the FGR picking the winner for the first time since January 3rd. Not just that, we also picked Brian Harman (T2), Patrick Cantlay (T4) and five other guys who made the cut. If not for losing the coin-flip by going with Kevin Streelman (MC) over Chez Reavie (T4) for the sleeper role, we would've been wallowing in gravy. Alas, Streelman flopped on Friday so it yielded no more than the price of four Egg McMuffins (which you can still get for $10 in case you, like me, didn't think there was any value left in this godforsakenly overpriced world). 

We will continue with the light and hasty approach in the hopes that there's a little more lightning or at least some ketchup left in that bottle.

GOLF ANALYSIS

The Rickie Fowler redemption tour continued last week with a third round 60 that led to a T13. That followed three consecutive top 10's which have propelled him to 35th in the world. There is some concern as he's playing for the fifth week in a row but I assume he knows how to avoid a burnout better than I did when I recently agreed to play three straight and my scoring trend looked like a graph of The Bear's viewership over the past few weeks (totally justified by the way and could I subconsciously include more food references this week?).

I toyed with going longer shot again this week with an Adam Hadwin or Sepp Straka type but never got quite the gut feeling I had about Keegan Bradley . . . who I picked to win last week . . . if you hadn't heard. All of the aforementioned do, however, make the top ten along with Chris Kirk, J.J. Spaun and Chez Reavie . . . a dream leaderboard if you were trying to market a golf tournament in the dead spot between majors. 

Carson Young gets the sleeper spot this week because I'm tired of picking Cameron Young and then watching him lose to this guy as I mix them up on the leaderboard. Besides, young Carson is making about three out of every four cuts and he finished T15 last week. That get's you hired without an interview for the sleeper job around here.
