Fantasy Golf: The Canadian Open Preview

Every week I enter at least one DraftKings team for some nominal amount like $5 with the chance to win a significant amount like $100,000. The odds are long but it's my version of buying a lottery ticket where I've convinced myself that I have some superior insight into the numbers that will be drawn because 23% of my brain is filled with otherwise useless golf information. I hit it big once which probably about offsets the trickling faucet of losses that most other weeks' bring while I wait for the next score.

So last week in my top ten I picked Patrick Cantlay (1st), Adam Scott (2nd), Marc Leishman (5th), Hideki Matsuyama (6th), Emiliano Grillo (T9th), Rickie Fowler (T14th), Ben An (T17th) and super longshot David Lingmerth who actually made the cut (T41st). Somewhere in there was a winning combination of six golfers under the salary cap. So did I enter a roster last week? Of fucking course not!!! Let's just move-on.

GOLFBABES TWEET OF THE WEEK

Check this out for the perfect example of form and tempo:

THIS WEEK'S ANALYSIS

They're playing the Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf & Country Club this year because they love it so much that the tournament hasn't been there since 2012 and, prior to that, 2006. That means we don't much to go on other than the fact that the leaderboards those two years seemed to be top heavy with straight hitters so that is the theory that will drive most of the picks below plus the obvious Brooks Koepka pick because he's entered the "you'd be an idiot not to pick him" zone.

I mean could this damn course
look more Canadian? Holy shit.

I just saw the freakin' flag!!!
One and Done Pick: Scott Piercy

Other Guy I'd Pick: Webb Simpson

Sleeper Pick: Scott Stallings
