Fantasy Golf: The BMW Championship Preview

It's going to be a half-ass preview this week even by this year's standards as I'm in the process of moving which we all know is the closest thing we have to experiencing hell while still living outside of the Earth's core. Yes antique shopping and driving at rush hour on the Baltimore beltway can make legitimate claims to that title but they both have a start and end time. Moving is interminable. Especially when you do it like a 14 year old kid with ADHD and stop every 20 minutes to check your phone or do anything besides putting shit in a box.

I'm currently in the middle of Day 3 of about a 7 day process (to the extent it will ever really culminate). And the best part is that when I'm done with the move, I still need to buy furniture for about half the damn place. Antiquing may get its shot at the title here shortly.

GOLF ANALYSIS

I have to confess that I did not watch a single shot of last week's tournament unless it was a passing glance at a TV above a bar in Ocean City, Maryland where I spent a bit of an old school weekend getting overserved. However, in one of the great "well at least I'm not as bad as that guy" moments of my life, we did stumble across a dude blacked-out on 127th Street (quite literally on 127th Street) with his legs up on the curb. Because I live by the motto of there but for the grace of God go I, we crossed back over Ocean Highway (no small feat at midnight) to help the guy up and ultimately carry him all the way to the elevator of his hotel. In retrospect, I may have done a good deed on behalf of the human metaphor for the FGR's 2026 season. Hopefully that pays dividends in 2027.

We don't have much left this year in the way of hope, pride or available players so Wyndham Clark is clearly the logical pick. I mean he's somewhat defensible based on his recent form and the fact that they're playing a major championship caliber course this week but that still doesn't make it right. We'll just add an ethical rebalance to our goals for next year and try to live with ourselves in the meantime.
