Fantasy Golf: The Zurich Classic Preview

For the second year in a row I will be in New Orleans during the Zurich Classic and for the second year in a row I will not be attending the tournament unless I wake-up bleary eyed one morning and develop the spontaneous urge to take a 25 minute Uber ride out to TPC Louisiana so I can walk a few holes with the Fitzpatrick brothers. I find it much more likely that I'll bump into them Thursday evening at Jazz Fest as we help Raye solve the mystery of where in the hell her husband is and why it's taking so long for him to find her.

On an unrelated note, it appears that LIV Golf is collapsing in what is anticipated to be spectacular fashion considering all of the petulant characters involved. You know the ship be sinking when Patrick Reed goes scurrying past you to make sure he's on the first lifeboat. We will have more on this later as we savor its demise.

GOLF ANALYSIS

It's going to be a light week of analysis as we don't recommend you wagering on this total crapshoot of an event and certainly not using advice from this website at this particular moment. We actually thought we were on the verge of a turnaround before Patrick Cantlay backpedaled his way to a T8 in Hilton Head. Shame on us for thinking "Cantlay is just the spark we need."

If we were going to throw some money around (which we will because we can't help ourselves), we're expecting good things from the team of Ryan Gerard and Sudarshan Yellamaraju. Gerard is a "birdie machine" and the young Canadian showed what he's capable of with a T5 at The Players. We're also rooting for his rapid accension as we want to hear Roger Maltbie try to say his name as often as possible before he retires.

If you want to play it safe, the Fitzpatrick brothers are a fine option or you could go with the defending champions Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin. But come on. At least spice it up for the locale and go with Taylor Moore and Wyndham Clark who has been playing well. You may hate yourself in the morning but at least you will have felt something. Words I will be living by for the next five days. Pray for me.

One and Done Pick: Sudarshan Yellamaraju

Other Guy I'd Pick: Taylor Moore

Sleeper Pick: Chad Ramey
