Fantasy Golf: The Wyndham Championship Preview

I think many people would agree that one of the most attractive features of the Fantasy Golf Report is the handy historical performance chart included at the bottom of most previews. Some have asked how that sophisticated database is maintained and it's probably as shit simple as you think, if not more so.

Basically, I just keep a running spreadsheet and fill-in the blanks with updated results and DraftKings values every fucking week. I've convinced myself that this gives me a more intimate relationship with the data and therefore yields betters results. Kind of like how the A's charging for soda in the clubhouse kept the money on the field. (It's not really like that at all). 

One interesting part of the process is that I periodically delete players so that the spreadsheet doesn't go 200 lines deep. Deleted players have historically fallen into one of the following two categories: (1) A player whose performance has deteriorated to the point that he is no longer worth tracking in any tournament, or (2) a player whose performance has elevated to the point that he's no longer worth tracking in certain tournaments that are now frankly beneath his station. 

Now, thanks to LIVGolf, we have a third category and I can't tell you the subtle yet distinct joy it has given me to start purging the likes of Sergio Garcia and Talor Gooch from the rolls. Look, I am an inherently vindictive person and that fuels the writing so, if you enjoy the FGR, this is a good thing even if you could care less about golfers switching leagues (which is a much healthier approach to all of this by the way). Just grant me this petty pleasure. Thank you.

GOLF ANALYSIS

This week really comes down to three guys and/or Will Zalatoris if you think this is finally his time. Webb Simpson, Kevin Kisner and Si Woo Kim have pretty much owned this tournament over the last few years combining for a win, three runner-ups and five other top fives since 2017. Don't over think it (he pleads to himself).

From there it's a lot of gut picks featuring erratic veterans and, between you and me, this preview is already past deadline and I'm teeing-off in about an hour. So um, cool.   

One and Done Pick: Webb Simpson

From the next room I just heard
Webb say that he'd make J.T. a 
sandwich as Ryder Cup captain.
Deal with that energy Europe.
