We're done writing about football for awhile but we'd be remiss if we didn't celebrate the FGR's 7-5-1 playoff record including a Super Bowl win. Deep down we knew the Eagles were the better team but there were still the obvious concerns that Jalen Hurts would choke, Nick Siranni would get outcoached or the outcome of the game had been predetermined which seemed likely after the early offensive pass interference call. Pretty sure that had Roger Goodell grabbing the nearest lacky and angrily whispering "ask them what part of 'make it subtle' they don't understand."
Everyone knew the Eagles' defensive line was strong thanks to their avant guarde draft strategy of using three first round picks on players from the best defense in college football. What most of us didn't see coming was them treating the Chiefs' offensive line like a worn down speedbump in a Burger King parking lot on their way to repeatedly mauling Patrick Mahomes.
In the end, the lesser of the bad guys won so that's a good thing. Maybe now that Travis Kelce is a loser, Taylor Swift will break up with him putting an end to that overblown saga and the referees can go back to just being incompetent instead of compromised and incompetent.
In other off-season news, it looks like no one is going to hire Ravens' offensive coordinator Todd Monken so we've got another playoff appearance and early January exit locked-up. Maybe the sadness of that reality will be offset by the Browns signing Aaron Rodgers. A man can dream.
WORK EXCHANGE OF THE WEEK
The guys in the field took offense to the fact that I had to dig into the archives last week and choreographed this one for me yesterday.
Bob: I'm going to cut right to the chase.
Me: Please do.
Bob: We were moving a pallet into a building and hit the door.
Me: Any damage?
Bob: Broke just the handle.
Me: That's not so bad.
Bob: Then we hit it again ten minutes later and broke the whole thing.
Me: Was the door singing Coldplay songs?
GOLF ANALYSIS
This week we head back to Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open Redux thanks to the California wild fires making Riviera an impractical venue. This despite our new Federal government's decision to dump about two billion gallons of water on other random parts of the state in an apparent effort to prove that water does in fact make things wet. It's all part of the plan to make life for Americans better by repeatedly asking the question "hey, what does this button do?"
Frankly, I have no room to talk based on my own recent performance. I'm not gonna lie, this golf writing schtick is a lot more fun when at least a couple of the picks are close to hitting. They say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade but I've been sitting here holding two rotten cantaloupes all year with no fucking clue what to do with them.
We're bringing back half of the cast from the flop three weeks ago under the theory that they were good picks who just had a bad week. That tournament was a bit of an aberration with a hot garbage leaderboard so few got it right. At least that's what we're telling ourselves.

HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE CHART
A lot of DNP's on the board this week as many of the better players have been skipping Torrey for years. Apparently it takes signature event money to get them to play a public course. Well grab a hot dog from the roller and show your ticket to the starter boys.
